How can Geofencing help you convert sales?

We’ll go ahead and get the first question out of the way… What in the world is Geofencing? The basic definition is this: A Geofence is a virtual boundary of a physical area. How exactly will this help you convert sales at your dealership?

A Geofence can be used to target a specific geographic area with paid ads through Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or any number of other social media platforms. By targeting a very defined physical area you will get the most benefit of your advertising and co-op dollars. You’re showing your ads to a smaller number of people in one specific area who are members of your target audience.

One of the most beneficial places we’ve found to use Geofencing is at a Farm Show. There are, quite literally, hundreds of these shows every year all across the country. From the national shows like the GIE Expo and National Farm Machinery Show to the smaller regional and local events, there are endless advertising opportunities at these shows. The people attending these shows are very likely members of your target audience. Most farm shows have displays of Outdoor Power Equipment ranging from trimmers up to high end farm equipment. By targeting these areas you are exposing your ad to a high concentration of potential customers in a small physical area. This higher concentration allows you to get more views for less money than almost any other form of media.

So how does it work? We’ll use the upcoming Tulsa Farm Show as an example. On the map below we have targeted the River Spirit Expo in Tulsa, Oklahoma where the event will be held. We will create a paid ad on one of the various social media platforms that advertises one of our client’s dealerships. We can then set that ad to only be shown to people within the blue circle on the map.

However, we don’t want to show the ad to every single person inside this blue circle. Not everyone at the Tulsa Farm Show will be part of our target audience.
